Fly to Stockholm, then a 50-minute flight to Umea in Northern Sweden. This
is a fast expanding modern town, well placed for visiting the wild wilderness. Stay at the
First Stora Hotellet, one of the oldest buildings in Umea, which opened in 1894
with its special atmosphere and interesting history, or The Scandic Hotel Umea Plaza,
a modern hotel with a wonderful view from the 14th-floor. Travel by private
coach through the vast forest land of Lapland, past charming little farming villages to
Selet. In winter approximately 20,000 reindeer roam the area.

Drive the snowmobiles over frozen lakes and rivers and through snow
covered forests driving through Europes last wilderness. Take a coffee break over a
log fire by the frozen river.

Visit the wilderness camp at Ekorrsele and enjoy lunch in
the Sami hut with a warm fire burning. The walls are hung with reindeer skins and
these also cover the benches.

Other sports include racing quad bikes through the snow, with chicanes and icy slalom
runs, cross-country and downhill ski-ing, fishing in the ice and icebreaking
The food is excellent and varied and includes many typical dishes, such as reindeer and
salmon. The nightlife is lively. The Rex is a particular favourite with the
locals.
