Salmon Fishing on the River Tay

Our head gillie, John Monteith, was featured in the January edition of "Scottish Life" magazine. His life as a gillie is based on the legendary Willie Laird, whose picture hangs alongside images of Macbeth and Robert the Bruce in the Tap Bar in Birnam. John spent his childhood years fishing with Willie and is now trying to give something back to the economy locally. His focus is habitat improvement on the Tay to increase the fish stocks. This will eventually expand jobs in the area. He has also set up a salmon fly-casting school on Tayside.
